Rochester, NY - Xerox announced on Wednesday that it will cut jobs in its product research and engineering departments, most likely in the first quarter of this year. HP did not disclose how many jobs it will cut. According to Bill McKee, a Xerox spokesman, “These reductions, while very difficult decisions for us to make, help us to manage our costs and drive operational improvements across the company.” Xerox currently employs 6,300 local workers. The company announced last month that it plans to build a customer care center in Monroe County amounting to $4.3 million that will result in 500 new jobs within the next two years.
