HP Enters Metal 3D Printing Segment

Posted Date 06/07/18

HP will release a line of metal 3D printers later this year, quick to enter one of the most promising segments of the 3D printing industry. The printing giant is keeping its cards close to its chest: the general manager of the multi jet fusion department at HP only told media the company will reveal which particular type of metal 3D printing technology it had decided to use in its new machines without going into any detail.

HP Inc.’s Dion Weisler said last year that the company will be going into metal 3D printing and now that this has been confirmed, it shows how eager HP is to tap all the opportunities the technology offers printer makers.

The overall 3D printing market is seen to reach $2.86 billion by 2025, one market research company, Grand View Research, has estimated, with the Asia Pacific driving a lot of this growth.

In terms of industry, metal 3D printing in particular has been the object if marked interest from the automotive and aerospace industries—no doubt something that HP Inc. is clearly aware of and ready to take on the competition.
